Quote Unquote

“Our greatest glory is not never having fallen, but getting up after each fall.” (Confucius)

“Great spirits have always had to fight against fierce opposition from mediocre minds.” (Einstein)

I chose these two quotes because  both  recall the story of my life.

I have found many difficulties to live with dystonia, but I’ve always moved on despite the falls and disappointments.

I like this thought of Confucius because I always sought the best for my life. I do not like waiting for things to happen. I’d rather raise my head and go ahead, even after I had fallen…   In fact, our greatest glory is not afraid to fall or make mistakes. Our life has many moments of ups and downs.

 I do not like passive people, without initiative, complaining everything in life.  All futile people are always unproductive, jealous and afraid of new things.  I think these features are of people who Einstein conceived as mediocre people.

And the brilliant minds are people who do not accept the routine and always look for change and innovation.  These people are not negative as those empty minds.

I still remember…

I still remember the day I went to a neurologist and I was diagnosed I had writer’s cramp.This happened in 2000. I suffered a lot without knowing what was my problem. And when I was diagnosed, I suffered even more … so far.
I still remember the time I was a kid and had the most difficult to write but did not know I had dystonia. I took hard on the pencil and wrote very slowly. My classmates laughed at and mocked me because of my difficulty in writing.
I still remember my mother and teachers forced me to write well and fast. I remember I cried and did not understand what was happening to me …
I still remember it was always hard for me to study … I remember the day I passed a test to enter university in sociology in 1984.
I still remember the day I entered the university for psychology after being four years studying sociology. These achievements seemed like a miracle … I could not write ….sometimes only with great difficulty. Nobody understood me or helped me.
  Even with these difficulties, I remember good times in my childhood when I was on vacation and went to a small farm of some friends of my mother. I enjoyed riding a horse and take the cattle to graze and be loose on the field.

LOL Post

This is my suitcase. This photo brings back too many good memories and makes me laugh a lot. It remembers  my trips to conferences and business seminars that I have always gone.  Most times, I travel just in time for the events and when I do I sometimes stay in the house of a friend or family…  So, I do not have the time to undo the bag. The time is always too short.

I think we all need to live life with greater spontaneity, without being so methodical and demanding of ourselves.  This photo shows these features and makes me reflect on a more spontaneous life.

“Best of” Post

 BESIDES THE DUTY

The man was called to the beach to paint the boat. He brought paint and brushes and began to paint the boat of the brilliant red… While he painted, he noticed that the paint was going by the bottom of the boat. He sought and  discovered that the causes of the leak was the hole and so repaired it. When he finished the painting, he received his money and left.

The following day, the proprietor of the boat sought the painter and  gave him a check of great value.

The painter was surprised and he spoke:

– You already paid  me the painting of the boat.

– But this is not only for the painting work, He spoke to the man. It’s because you having repaired the leak of the boat.

– It was just the small service that I didn’t want to collect, said the painter.
Certainly you’re  paying me this high amount to something so insignificant!

– My dear friend, you didn’t understand, the proprietor of the boat said. Let to tell you that happened to me. When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention the leak. When the boat dried, my children caught it and they left to the fishery. I was not home on that moment.

When I returned and I noticed that they had gone out with the boat, I was desperate, because I remembered that the boat had the hole. Big was my relief and my happiness when I saw  they returning, remove them and sound. Then, I examined the boat and I verified that you had repaired it.

Have you noticed, now, what did make? You saved my children’s life! I don’t have enough money to pay you for your “good small” action…

“The world is needing good people to practice the true charity without thinking in receiving anything in change…”   WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS???

 → This comment above at the end of the dialogue says all the reasons I chose this post to repost again. People nowadays are very foolish and does not seek to be honest and do good so…

We must learn to do anything beyond duty…

Well… in fact this article was published in the old Yahoo 360º and after the end of the Yahoo Blogs, I posted it in wordpress on  09/18/2009.

Historical Patch of Campina Grande

I really liked when I first saw the blog “Retalhos Históricos de Campina Grande” (Historical Patch  of Campina Grande) because it talks about the history of my hometown in a professional and nice form. This was the first time I’ve visited a blog that covers the history of a city with a pleasant and interesting way.
I liked this blog so I put a link of it on my own blog, on the “Recomendo” sidebar. I access them quite often to remember old times. I like to be seeing the old photos and videos of old TV shows.

The blog is written in Portuguese, for sure. My hometown is the northeast of Brazil.

 This is my comment for a blog I appreciate very much and this post was written as part of NHBPM  – 30 health posts in 30 days

I think I can…

continue working with dystonia;
live my life normally with dystonia;
at least continue to write my name;
help many people with my blog;
help the world better;
live an age where scientists have discovered a treatment for writer’s cramp;
live in a world more human, less selfish and less individualistic;
meet many interesting places;
reach all my goals;

I know I can…

be a nice person;
be an  better health activist;
be a competent professional psychologist;
enjoy the finer things in life;
I have many friends in wegohealth.

One favorite song

“Tao” est l’album “Tun Huang” 1981. J’ai découvert la musique de Kitaro au cours des séances de Tai Chi qui a commencé quand j’avais 22 ans. Depuis lors, la musique de Kitaro a toujours suivi ma vie. Et il m’a aidé à vivre plus paisiblement.

I always liked the music of Kitaro. I heard these songs a lot when I started practicing tai-chi-chuan. They always made me relax and get energy and willingness to life.
These songs soothe the soul and make us more relaxed. People today are very tense, anxious and coarse.
I chose this video between many of them. But you can see others on Youtube.
